April 3, 2013...(sigh)

As I sit at the keyboard...the view from my window does not accurately reflect what one would expect from the date on the calendar...

...although it may not be visible in the photo...snowflakes are swirling around our beautiful tree. I'm sure it was not expecting this frigid assault on a spring morning. It seems that frigid assaults have become the watchword lately...in many aspects. Since October I have logged no less than 120 resumes sent to prospective employers. This effort has resulted in 2 interviews...several letters informing me that the position to which I applied has been filled...and lately a rash of phone calls from morons trying to scam me by offering an interview for a "one time fee" which has ranged from $36.00 - $100.00. Keeping on...keeping on...is becoming increasingly difficult as the days go by. Surely there is gainful employment for me somewhere.

Unemployment sucks...

I can't believe that it's been 4 1/2 months since I lost my job due to "downsizing". I really thought that I would only be out of work for a couple of weeks. After all, I am a secretary/admin. assistant...we are a dime a dozen...and every business needs at least one of us.

It has become painfully obvious that the "dime a dozen" effect has become a detriment...not an asset. There are apparently a lot of secretary/admin. assistants out of work. I have applied for 73 positions...and only recieved 2 interviews. Both jobs went to other applicants.

I am beginning to realize that in order to become employable again...I may need to "reimagine" myself. I don't even know where to start.
